Tiers of Clinical Care at Folkwise Clinic

Every person and situation is unique, so my herbal treatment plans at Folkwise Clinic are flexible. 

There are three tiers of clinical care available ⸺ Tier 1 being the highest level of care and Tier 3 being the lightest. Which tier your treatment plan falls into is determined by several factors, including the severity or complexity of your case, your financial situation, my expert opinion and your personal desires. 

The tiers are not written in stone; they are intended to give you an idea of how treatment can be provided. Your needs may flex between Tier 1 and Tier 3, and you may have different needs at different times in your life. 

The cost of herbal medicine treatment is determined by two factors: one, your herb dosage and formula type and two, the level of clinical support needed.

Tier 1 - The highest level of clinical care

One of the most important aspects of traditional Chinese medicine practice is frequent re-evaluation of your herbal treatment. Your body is dynamic, complex, and constantly changing (even if it doesn't always feel like that to you). Chinese herbal medicine treatment is dynamic and complex to mirror the reality of your body and health. Frequent evaluation and formula adjustment is one of the key reasons my approach has successfully treated many cases where other doctors have failed. 

The more severe, complex, or difficult the condition we are treating is, the more important it is to assess how your body is responding to the herbs often. 

At the highest level of care, I re-evaluate your treatment every two weeks. I may adjust the formula composition, formula type, or have you continue on the current treatment depending on what is needed to support your health.

Every two weeks you will fill out an intake form and upload a tongue photo. This provides me with the information to see how the herbs are working and what needs to be done next. 

We schedule a consultation (by phone, in person, or by video) every 3 months in longer treatment plans, or more often if needed. You may schedule as many follow up consultations as you need, or as new concerns arise. 

This is the plan I will recommend for most complex or chronic cases, and is highly effective in bringing about change as we work closely together over time. Serious health issues often have many layers to work though, rather than a single magic bullet. 

This is Chinese Herbal Medicine at its best.

The length of your treatment plan will be discussed at your initial consultation, but for chronic or serious conditions often ranges from three months to a year.

-30 minute one-on-one follow-up consultations by phone, in person, or by video at least every three months. You may schedule follow-up consultations as often you need, or as new concerns arise.

Initial Consultation (60 min): $200

Evaluation (every 2 weeks): $50

Herbs at Standard Dosage:

  -Capsule Formula: $240/month

  -Granule Extract Formula: $300/month

  -Raw Herb Formula: $300/month

Follow-up Consultation (30 min): $100

Tier 2 - A more moderate level of clinical care

Not everyone needs evaluation every two weeks. In cases of more moderate severity and complexity, evaluation can be done less frequently ⸺ every 4 to 12 weeks depending on the case. At this level of care I often recommend standard herb dosage, but in some cases it can be reduced. 

This plan is slightly less intensive than Tier 1, and therefore slightly cheaper. I use this model for cases where I feel confident prescribing a formula to be taken for one to several months at a time without alteration. It is a flexible, middle of the road option appropriate for many conditions.

  -Capsule Formula: $120-$240/month

  -Granule Extract Formula: $150-$300/month

  -Raw Herb Formula: $150-$300/month

Follow-up Consultation (30 min): $100

Tier 3 - A light level of care

This is the lightest level of clinical care I offer. It is the least expensive, but also offers the least support. 

For some cases, this is perfect. With certain conditions, I’ve been able to provide very effective treatment at this tier - for example with many cases of chronic yeast infections, BV, and fungal skin infections. 

For others, I won’t be able to help you to the best of my ability. That being said, this can still be an extremely helpful option, especially if Tier 1 or 2 is beyond your current financial means. 

Treatment at this tier is provided only through Classical Pearls capsule formulas and/or standard Folkwise Formulas. Custom granule extract and raw herb formulas are not offered. Read more about formula types here.

At our in-depth consultation, I will provide you with a protocol of recommended formulas and dosage. Depending on your needs and health, you may take this protocol for an extended period of time or you may choose to have your progress evaluated periodically (anywhere from every 3 months to every year).
